I left gluten in July 2013, when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. This was after a lifetime of undiagnosed pain and discomfort. My health had slowly degraded, my feet and ankles were riddled with pain, inflammation and stress fractures, I had an upset stomach all the time. The skin on my face became discolored in places, I lost weight, was irritable all the time, bloated with stomach movements and noises that were so uncomfortable and embarrassing. When even saltine crackers were causing me to have stomach pains, I knew there was a major issue.

Back in 2006 I was treated with radioactive iodine for Grave’s disease and things went downhill from there. Before I had the radioactive iodine, any stress would cause my blood pressure to raise and my heart to feel like it was pounding out of my chest. I had mood swings, was an insomniac, had weight fluctuations, I was hot all the time, and incredibly stressed out. Now, I’m gluten-free and trying to enjoy life and reduce stress while I attempt to make and find good gluten-free foods. I hope to share my journey to health and feeling good again, in the hopes that some of you can relate to my story and find some solace on your path to wellness. I also hope to spread awareness about Celiac disease and the many complications it can cause, to help people find answers by looking deeper into their health.
